Hunza or Baltistan?
Find your kind of motorcycle journey.

Start with how you like to ride, how long you can travel and how much time you want off the bike. Here’s how our three proposed northern Pakistan journeys compare.

The quick comparison

These are MotoPakistan’s developing journey concepts. Dates, daily riding hours, suppliers and final requirements remain to be confirmed.

Hunza High Road

You want a balanced first look at Hunza

Start here if you are a confident road rider drawn to Attabad, Passu and village stops, with a mix of riding and time to explore. This is our proposed introduction to Hunza, not a learn-to-ride trip.

The outline leaves room for a pause in Upper Hunza. Khunjerab is conditional, with a lower-valley alternative if the excursion is unsuitable.

Baltistan & Deosai

You want Balti valleys and are comfortable on loose surfaces

Consider this journey if Skardu, Shigar and Khaplu appeal to you and you have experience on uneven or loose terrain. It has a more active riding emphasis than Hunza High Road.

Deosai is a conditional out-and-back excursion from Skardu, not a compulsory crossing. The plan includes a weather reserve and a lower-valley alternative; no plateau camping or compulsory river crossing is planned.

Grand Karakoram

You want both regions and have time for a longer tour

Consider Grand Karakoram if you want Hunza and Baltistan in one journey and are comfortable with consecutive touring days. The longer outline includes rest and contingency time, but also a longer connection towards Skardu.

The 15-day plan begins and ends in Islamabad, with proposed domestic flights. Deosai is excluded from the base itinerary. Flight disruption can change or shorten the programme; a long road transfer is not an automatic replacement.

Count the whole trip, not just the riding days

Hunza High Road and its autumn edition start and finish in Gilgit; Baltistan & Deosai starts and finishes in Skardu. Their nine- and ten-day durations cover the regional journey. Our working plans allow roughly three additional calendar days for Islamabad arrival and return arrangements, including a buffer.

Grand Karakoram works differently: its 15-day outline already includes Islamabad nights, proposed domestic flights and a return contingency day. Compare those complete outlines before choosing your time away. Final connections and arrangements will be confirmed separately.

Choose for your recent riding experience

“Mostly paved” describes the proposed surface, not an easy difficulty rating. The Hunza editions are aimed at confident road riders; Baltistan & Deosai asks for comfort on loose or uneven surfaces. Grand Karakoram adds the demands of a longer touring journey.

When you register, tell us what you ride now, whether you have toured over several days and how you feel on unpaved roads. If you are new to motorcycling or uncertain about the terrain, say so. We need that conversation before discussing suitability; this guide is not a rider assessment.

What about motorcycles, support and budget?

Review the candidate motorcycles and riding gear alongside our planned support. Fleet availability and final supplier arrangements remain unconfirmed. Each journey page carries its current estimated 2027 price range and explains the travel allowance, so you can compare the complete planning estimate.

Still deciding? That’s a useful place to start.

You can select “Not sure yet” on the interest form. Tell Taimour and the team whether scenery, riding challenge, photography or a longer exploration matters most, plus your likely travel window.
